Description
The Senior Systems Administrator responsibilities include: troubleshooting, maintaining, and deploying all company software; maintaining and managing Active Directory; managing the company disaster recovery plan; managing and maintaining the company SQL environment to provide a stable, fast, secure, and efficient database engine for MKC’s accounting, sales, and inventory information.
Essential Qualifications
Extensive knowledge and experience with Windows OS (PC and Server), PowerShell, and Endpoint Management
Extensive knowledge and experience with Active Directory, Exchange, and related modules (DNS, DHCP, IIS, etc)
Knowledge and experience with backup and recovery systems (Avamar preferred)
Knowledge and experience with SQL server, SSMS, and SSRS
Knowledge and experience with VMware or related technology
Knowledge and experience with Linux systems
Working knowledge of networking
Technical project management ability and organization
Ability to use creativity and ingenuity to solve business problems.
Effective written and oral communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Required Education and/or Experience
Requires a degree in computer science or a related field and/or 7 years in a related position
Requirements
Monitors and optimizes the SQL Servers that house our ERP system and related databases
Plans and Executes updates and patches to SQL, GP, and associated 3rd party software
Works closely with the Applications Development team to provide integrations to our core databases
Creates and maintains support documentation for all relevant systems and processes
Works closely with third-party vendors and partners that require database access, connections, and/or scripting assistance
Maintains, manages, and monitors servers, laptops, desktops, and mobile devices
Responsible for planning and execution of monthly downtime tasks including: server OS updates, software updates, and infrastructure updates
Responsible for planning, testing, and maintaining the disaster recovery and backup plans
Reviews current and projected future consumption of infrastructure hardware with the Infrastructure Administrator to ensure reliable operation of all servers
Must maintain a close working relationship with other IT personnel to assist with security concerns, scheduled downtime, and support
Reviews and proposes migrations to cloud-based services as/where it makes good business sense
Review company-wide adoption of the Teams platform and recommends improvements and/or efficiency gains
Creates and maintains effective documentation of relevant systems and processes
Assists in training end users.
Possess strong problem solving and decision-making skills while using good judgment.
Multi-task and change from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure.
Clearly and regularly communicate with manager and colleagues.
