General Function

The Administrative Assistant I receives, greets and helps office or departmental visitors, University employees, and students. The Administrative Assistant I will help answer the telephone, take messages or routes calls according to office procedures along with answering questions regarding parking, complete transactions involving parking permits sales, vehicle leasing and vehicle driving. The Administrative Assistant performs basic and varied clerical tasks which may include keyboarding and/or computer data entry, filing, and operating standard office machines and equipment.
Description of Primary Duties

The Administrative Assistant I receives, greets and helps office or departmental visitors, University employees, and students. The Administrative Assistant I will help answer the telephone, take messages or routes calls according to office procedures along with answering questions regarding parking, complete transactions involving parking permits sales, vehicle leasing and vehicle driving.
Includes driving university or leased vehicles for relocation, maintenance, and fueling.
The Administrative Assistant performs basic and varied clerical tasks which may include keyboarding and/or computer data entry, filing, and operating standard office machines and equipment.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

Education: A high school diploma or the equivalent is required.
Experience: At least one year of general office experience is preferred.
Certification/Training: A valid driver's license is required.
Skills: Keyboarding skills required. Written and verbal communication skills, the ability to operate electronic, photocopier or other standard office machines, perform routine alpha-numeric filing tasks, and perform basic recordkeeping and tabulation tasks are preferred.
Effort: Administrative Assistant I positions are primarily sedentary; however, some positions may require walking and/or standing for extended periods of time. Some Receptionist positions occasionally require the ability to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to twenty-five pounds.
Administrative positions require keyboarding, which may be extensive at times

This position is part time and limited to 1000 hours in a rolling 12 month period.
