The Lecturer is an unranked faculty member who is appointed to teach specific course(s) on a term contract and is qualified by academic or practical experience appropriate for the assigned teaching responsibilities. This rank is used only on the West Plains campus.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to teaching 15 contact hours per semester of physical sciences, including fundamentals of chemistry and general chemistry courses. Other duties include student advising, supervising dual credit and adjunct biology faculty, university committee work, and providing professional service to the campus and community. Additional teaching opportunities may be available during summer.

The minimum acceptable qualifications for the position of Lecturer are prescribed in the Faculty Handbook. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.

Applicant is required to have a M.S in Chemistry or a related field with at least 18 hours of graduate credits in Physical Sciences (or anticipated completion by August 2024).
Applicant must also have experience teaching first and second year college chemistry courses, including experience in setting up and conducting chemistry labs. Experience with course assessment and continual improvement of student learning. The applicant must also demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and effective oral and written communication skills; have experience with a wide-range of instructional delivery systems; be experienced with student learning assessment processes; and demonstrate involvement in professional organizations and activities.
