JOB PURPOSE The Director of Claims is integral in steering the strategic direction andoperational excellence of the claims department at MEM. Responsibilities for thisrole include leading a team of claims professionals, partnering with executiveleadership to develop and execute strategies that drive towards overall claimsrisk management and mitigation, while driving a focus to continuously improvereturn to work and claim outcomes.This further includes monitoring and enhancing quality assurance and technicaltraining programs, in accordance with MEM strategic objectives. Leadership atthis level will drive the team towards efficiency, effectiveness, and high-qualityservice delivery, ensuring the company's competitive edge in the workers'compensation insurance market. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Leadership and DirectionIdentify and communicate the actions needed to implement the function'sstrategy and business plan within the business area or department; explain therelationship to the broader organization's mission, vision, and values; motivate people to commit to these tenets and do extraordinary things to achievebusiness goals.Policy Development and ImplementationOversee the development of policies and procedures to ensure consistent andefficient implementation of best practices.Resource AllocationPrioritize and allocate resources based on complexity and risk, so that the teamcan operate efficiently and ensure high quality service and outcomes.Relationship ManagementOversee agent and policyholder relationships to ensure effective communicationand realization of customer value. This also includes regular cross-functionalpartnerships with units across the business (e.g., SRS, CompLegal).Team ManagementProvide support to team members to enable effective delivery of servicesaccording to expected standards. Includes leading in the areas of performancemanagement, coaching, and identifying development needs.Performance ManagementHelp establish and monitor department metrics and key performance indicatorsto drive action and results. Manage and report on the performance of thedepartment; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports anddepartmental teams and hold individuals accountable for achieving them; takeappropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement ofteam/individual objectives.Solutions AnalysisDevelop innovative solutions by integrating and analyzing complex and diverseinformation sources and market trends.Regulatory and Compliance ManagementEnsure appropriate processes and controls are in place to comply with legal andregulatory requirements.Organizational Capability BuildingUse the organization's formal development framework to identify the team'sindividual development needs. Plan and implement actions, including continuingprofessional development specified by professional or regulatory institutions, tobuild their professional capabilities. Provide informal training or coaching toothers throughout the organization in own area of expertise to enable others toimprove performance and fulfill personal potential.BudgetingDevelop and manage an operational budget that aligns with the companystrategy and priorities. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience Experience: 10 years workers compensation claims experience10 years management experience
