Youth Care Specialist-Shift

The LIGHT House Maternity Home, an affiliate of Missouri Baptist Children's Home, seeks a Residential Specialist to work part-time or full time during the week!!

Must be available weekday afternoons and two evenings a week (Tuesday and Thursday). This position may start at part-time with the option to move to full-time if desired.

Available Hours Needed:

  • Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays: 1:00pm-5:00pm
  • Tuesdays and Thursdays: 1:00-9:00pm
  • There may also be opportunities for additional hours as needed for a part-time hiree; if the candidate is interested in full-time, please note the above hours are needed, and additional hours will be discussed in the interview to fulfill 40 hours a week as desired.
  • The maternity home is open 24/7, 365 days a year; some holidays will be required.

Our wonderful, large home is clean, beautifully furnished, and conveniently located in the Kansas City metro area.

Residential Specialists ensure care for the emotional, physical and spiritual well-being of our clients.

Residential Specialists provide for the clients' needs, give encouragement, and impart coping and life skills in a safe and structured environment which they help to create by modeling Job Requisition Christian values at all times.

  • Provide direct monitoring of clients under immediate care
  • Foster independent development: teach independent living skills, money & time management, management of medical needs & parenting skills, etc.
  • Manage house/clients' needs: chores, life skills, relationship building, modeling/mentoring parenting growth, social skills, etc.
  • Provide support and modeling to mothers in the maternity home programs: help with general needs, diapering, feeding, changing, bathing, safe sleep instruction & safety education
  • Communicate and collaborate with other staff to coordinate services and ensure quality
  • Provide transportation as requested.
  • Prepare or supervise preparation of foods and ensure proper storage and labeling of foods.
  • Lead clients in devotions and prayer time daily
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all medications • Dispense/monitor effects of medications in timely manner; stay up to date on Medication Certification (training provided by the LIGHT House).
  • Address all health concerns and stay up-to-date on CPR and First Aid (training provided by The LIGHT House)
  • Complete daily reports and other required documentation and administrative tasks as necessary

Qualifications


  • Assurance of a Christ-centered life
  • Bachelor's Degree; college degree in Social Services Highly Desired
  • High School Diploma or GED (experience in social services will be considered in lieu of a college degree)
  • Keep current CPR, First Aid, and Med Tech certifications
  • 21 years of age minimum
  • Valid driver's license, and willingness to obtain Class E driver's license within ten days of employment
  • Demonstrable capacity to work well in stressful situations
  • Ability to lift at least 30 pounds
  • Ability to assist with infants and children in the program
