Assistant Attorney General

Labor Section - St. Louis

The Missouri Attorney General's Office is committed to providing the highest quality legal representation to the six million Missourians who call our State home. We are looking for attorneys with excellent credentials interested in our Labor Section defending the State in workers' compensation claims.

The Labor Section provides general counsel and litigation services in Missouri Workers' Compensation claims for the Missouri State Treasurer in his capacity as custodian of the Second Injury Fund (Fund) and for the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations in its role administering the Fund. The Labor Division similarly provides general counsel and litigation services for the Missouri's Office of Administration, Central Accident Reporting Office (CARO) in defending workers' compensation claims filed against a multitude of state agencies by its employees.

The Labor Division also prosecutes cases involving fraud and noncompliance with the Missouri Workers' Compensation Act, as referred by the Fraud and Noncompliance Unit of the Division of Workers' Compensation, filing charges in 189 criminal cases and obtaining 54 guilty pleas in 2022.

Candidates should be licensed to practice law in Missouri or eligible for a temporary license (Rule 8.06). Candidates with the most relevant experience and education will be considered for an interview.

Starting salary is $70,000 and increases based on years of experience up to $90,000, for six or more years of experience.
