Swanton School seeks an energetic, enthusiastic aficionado of mathematics and teaching to become our next Mathematics Coach beginning in the fall of 2024. The successful candidate will join a three-person coaching team that also includes a Literacy Coach and Social-Emotional Learning Coordinator. This full-time position works primarily with teachers and administration to support high-quality first instruction in mathematics school wide, PK-6, including fidelity to our mathematics program, Illustrative Mathematics. The position requires the support and leadership of ongoing data collection and analysis that drives general mathematics lessons, as well as Tier II and III interventions.
The successful candidate will serve as part of the school's leadership team, facilitate grade level Professional Learning Communities, and work closely with classroom teachers, academic interventionists, special educators, support staff, and others, to help all learners (adults and children) reach their full mathematical potential and establish a love of mathematics through regular coaching cycles, modeling and professional development. The Mathematics Coach will have a demonstrated ability to form trusting relationships with the adult school community that inspires instructional and professional growth. As a role model, the Mathematics Coach demonstrates the respectful, responsible and caring behaviors expected of students and adults within the school community. A belief in, and working knowledge of, PBIS is a plus!
