As the Technical Writer, Service Communications for MissionSquare Retirement, you will be reporting to the Director, Content and Editorial and working closely with the Director, Service Communications. You will create service communications to educate and inform clients.

Essential Functions/Activities (at least four but not more than ten sentences):

  • Use technical writing best practices to communicate complex and technical information to plan sponsors and participants; ensure content is effective at simplifying the complex, covering subjects that require direction, instruction, or explanation
  • Write accurate, easily understood copy to prepare various service communications, including but not limited to instruction manuals, how-to guides, letters, emails, website posts, and other supporting documents
  • Collaborate with teammates within the Marketing Department and enterprise-wide to deliver materials that provide clear, concise instructions or information for the intended audience
  • Edit copy and coordinate reviews with subject matter experts, ensuring quality and consistency of information and technical documentation to provide precise and flawless value to clients
  • Deliver technical writing with a clear, direct, and neutral style, presenting the information in a professional and accessible manner, while adhering to the company’s overall tone
  • Facilitate proofing and compliance review requests as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Knowledge/Experience

  • BA/BS or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of three to five years of successful technical writing experience, preferably within the retirement planning, financial services, or related industry
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and updating technical documents using industry best practices
  • Strategic thinking, initiative, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment, ensuring service communications support client needs and business goals.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at once, set priorities, work independently, problem solve, and function as part of a team that must perform quickly under pressure
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe PDF editing features
  • Highly effective written and verbal communicator
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office core products
  • Working knowledge of Adobe PDF editing features
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Articulate under pressure
  • Ability to work at a high level in a matrixed environment
  • Demonstrated leader
