Mission Veterinary Partners is Hiring a Veterinary Technician - Urgent Care Near Keller, TX

OverviewNorth Texas Veterinary Clinic is seeking a responsible, flexible, teachable, pet-loving, and people-loving veterinary technician for our progressive small animal hospital.
Experience as a veterinary technician is required!Compensation: $21-25/hrShift Details: We are planning to open Urgent Care in August and would want to train within our GP ahead of time. Must have weekend availability- Saturday and Sunday 8am-8pm. Options for working in GP and UC to work full time hours available.
  • We are closed for all major holidays! *No boarding and no grooming.
Veterinary Technician Skills/responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited ToCollecting blood (jugular and cephalic)
Ability to perform laboratory tests such as: fecal tests, heartworm tests and urinalysis and reading cytologies
Ability to place catheters in dogs and cats
Preparing animals for surgery and anesthetic monitoring
Performing dentals (scaling and polishing)
Ability to perform nail trims and express anal glands
Administering medications and vaccines
Preparing and labeling medications
Walking and feeding animals when needed
Knowledge of veterinary terminology
Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to educate clients

Job Summary: This position provides leadership and training to the medical support staff in the operation of a small animal facility in accordance with hospital policy and procedures and provides medical care to patients as allowed in the veterinary practice act. The Veterinary Technician will be able to communicate effectively with employees and clients and have great attention to detail and organizational abilities.
ResponsibilitiesHow you'll make an impact:
  • Maintain and uphold Core Values and Mission Statement of MVP.
  • Provide guidance to the support staff to assure that the shift flows well
  • Provide input to the hospital manager for 360-degree employee performance evaluations.
  • Provide patient care under the supervision and direction of a DVM.
  • Maintain excellent client communication.
  • Record all pertinent medical, client and case related information in the patient record accurately with appropriate grammar, terms, and accurate information.
  • Review medical records, estimates or discharge instructions with clients.
  • Answer client’s inquiries about basic animal care questions and routine procedures; handle client’s medical questions with confidence and direct to veterinarians when appropriate.
QualificationsRequired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Some veterinary industry experience required.
  • Must be proficient in a variety of skills ranging from but not limited to laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental and nursing skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate patience and composure in stressful situations, and ability to handle a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to stay calm and efficient during a medical crisis.
  • Ability to give SQ, IM and IV injections.
  • Knowledge of usage, dosage, and common side-effects for commonly used prescription drugs and ability to readily explain them to the clients.
