PRESCHOOL TEACHER’S AIDE
JOB DESCRIPTION

OVERVIEW
The Mission Chattanooga requires an experienced and dedicated preschool teacher’s aide. The primary responsibility of this role is to maintain the health and vibrancy of the Mission Chattanooga Preschool working with children 6 weeks - 3 years old. Currently hiring for Monday-Thursday for an 8:30a-2:45p shift.
(Parents’ Day Out Program).

RESPONSIBILITIES OF PRESCHOOL PROGRAM ASSISTANT
Under the direction of the Preschool Manager, the role of the Teacher’s Aide includes administrative tasks, educational enhancements, teacher support, and program support for our Mission Preschool students.

Teacher’s Aide Responsibilities
● Assist teachers in carrying out their lesson plans, activities, and routines in the classroom
● Cover lunch time and breaks as needed
● Ensure student safety in classroom and outdoor settings
● Familiarity with each classroom’s routine and schedule
● Ability to work with ages 6 weeks - 3 years old (adjust as appropriate) and a general knowledge of appropriate developmental activities for the age group
● Daily contribution to the vibrancy and health of each classroom
● Attend monthly paid hour-long staff meetings with staff to review strengths and opportunities

General Tasks
● Be on-site from 8:30 am to 2:45 pm Monday through Thursday.
● Substitute on an as-needed basis in any classroom due to unexpected absences or staff shortages
● Provide classroom coverage and maintain proper student:teacher ratio for teacher lunch breaks
● Participate in a 1:1 meeting with Preschool Manager monthly
● Respond to any preschool-related Brightwheel messages during business hours if a teacher is unable to respond
● Assist in the day-to-day operations of the classroom and help manage classroom schedules to allow teachers the opportunity to connect with students individually, meet with the Preschool
Manager, or plan for future class time

● Assist teachers in the execution of educational enrichment activities for students
● Collaborate with the Preschool Manager and teachers on, but not limited to, program, educational items, and extracurricular activities
● Be present with teachers when children are outside and act as a safety monitor for outdoor activities
● Assist teachers in opening and closing routines including the cleaning and organizing of the classrooms

COMPENSATION
● $14.00 per hour, paid on a bimonthly basis
● Guaranteed 24 hours per week, except during school breaks
● Additional hours offered during school closures, weeknights, and weekends
