Job Summary and Qualifications

Responsible for directing the acute care rehabilitation operations – PT, OT, ST – at Mission Hospital. As well as Huff Therapies, which is Mission’s outpatient pediatric PT/OT/ST and Audiology department at Reuter Children’s Outpatient Center. The Director of Rehab Services will achieve clinical objectives, employee relations, customer service, and financial objectives through strong leadership and effective management of staff and customers. The Director is accountable for supporting the various rehab services while partnering with other departments to ensure the highest quality of care and throughput efficiency.


What qualifications you will need:

Required Licensure: Must have current, valid licensure in PT, PTA, OT, OTA, or SLP

  • Physical Therapist: Valid physical therapy license in the state(s) where services are rendered.
  • Physical Therapy Assistant: Valid physical therapist assistant license or equivalent, in the state(s) where services are rendered.
  • Occupational Therapist: Current certificate with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy or eligible for certificate as required by state guidelines. Valid occupational therapy license in the state(s) where services are rendered.
  • Occupational Therapy Assistant: Current certificate with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy or eligible for certificate as required by state guidelines. Valid occupational therapy assistant license or equivalent, in the state(s) where services are rendered.
  • Speech-Language Pathologist: Valid state license or equivalent, in speech language pathology services at the clinical level in the state(s) where services are performed. Current Clinical Competence Certification by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Required Certification:

BLS from an approved agency within 3 months of hire/transfer.


Required Education:

  • Physical Therapist: Graduate of an accredited program of physical therapy, culminating in a minimum of a bachelor-of-science degree.
  • Physical Therapy Assistant: Graduate of an accredited physical therapy assistant program, culminating in a minimum of an associate degree.
  • Occupational Therapist: Graduate of an accredited program of occupational therapy, culminating in a minimum of a bachelor-of-science degree.
  • Occupational Therapy Assistant: Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy assistant program, culminating in a minimum of an associate degree. Graduate of an accredited program of Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Speech-Language Pathologist: Graduate of an accredited program of speech, hearing science and language development, culminating in a minimum of a master’s degree.

Preferred Experience: A minimum of three (3) years’ experience preferred as a therapist or therapist assistant in the discipline with a minimum of one (1) year preferred in a supervisory capacity

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must possess strong management abilities including planning, organizing, motivating and leading.
  • Demonstrates knowledge or ability to learn DOR job duties, and systems. Possesses leadership and team building abilities.
  • Highest level of professionalism with the ability to maintain confidentiality. • Effective verbal and written English communications skills.
  • Good communication skills including ability to handle complaints, objections and resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of organization and work well within a team environment in support of company objectives.
  • Customer service oriented with the ability to X 5 work well under pressure and demonstrates the ability to field intermittent interruptions while providing optimal care to resident.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize, coordinate and simultaneously maintain multiple projects with high level of quality and productivity.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, take initiative and make independent decisions.
  • High degree of teamwork and flexibility are essential.
  • Ability to deal with new tasks without the benefit of written procedures.
  • Approachable, flexible and adaptable to change
  • Ability to make decisions and have the willingness to work with the realization that errors may be of serious consequence.
  • Follows directions, retains learned information, cooperates and functions as part of a team, as well as be an effective team leader.
  • Working knowledge of mathematics and statistical data.
  • General working knowledge of all professions in rehabilitation services (including regulators, payor, and professional association recommended scope of practice) in order to direct programming in those areas.
  • Function independently, and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with employees and vendors.
