Position Overview

Under the direction of the of the Program Coordinator, provides Mobile Response Services on an on-call basis for youth, birth to 21, and their families in the community. Uses a team-based approach to provide crisis intervention services to the youth and family including assessment, de-escalation of crisis, crisis and safety planning, psychoeducation, brief family therapy and referrals to community resources.


We are hiring to create a pool of crisis support positions. This position will be scheduled for on-call shifts and receive the following compensation:

  • Monday thru Friday: $50/shift and pay for each hour of direct service.
  • Weekend: $75 for each shift and pay for each hour of direct service.
  • Holiday: $100 for each shift and pay for each hour of direct service.

Essential Job Functions

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provides quality direct consumer care encompassing clinical assessment, therapy, crisis stabilization, treatment planning, and case management as appropriate.
  • Ensures that services to consumers meet CMH standards of quality and quantity.
  • Provides consultation to other agencies regarding services and mental health issues of consumers and referrals.
  • Collaborates effectively and efficiently with other community agencies.
  • Maintains all agency paperwork and clinical record documentation in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Attends and participates in agency meetings as well as program specific team meetings.
  • Performs other functions as assigned.

Required Education, Training and Experience

Master's degree in social work, psychology, or a related mental health field is required. Two years of relevant professional experience in a mental health agency preferred. Lived experiences with mental illness, developmental disabilities, or substance use disorders are valued.

Licenses and Certifications:

Must possess or obtain State of Michigan licensure as a Licensed Master's Social Worker, Limited Licensed Master's Social Worker, Licensed Psychologist, or Limited Licensed Psychologist. Certified Advanced Addictions Counselor status also preferred.

Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license is required.

Additional Requirements and Information

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Thorough working knowledge and use of crisis intervention and related skills.
  • Working knowledge of Michigan Department of Community Health and CMH rules, regulations, and standards.
  • Thorough knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements governing the confidentiality of patient health information, including the provisions of HIPAA.
  • Thorough working knowledge of professional and ethical practice standards
  • Working knowledge of the DSM-V.
  • Working knowledge of varied therapeutic short-term interventions.
  • Flexibility in the selection of appropriate interventions for each consumer.
  • Capacity to work effectively within agency parameters.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer word processing skills sufficient to produce timely clinical notes.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates abilities to link an individual to appropriate resources.
  • Thorough working knowledge of proper medical record documentation and management.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations, including, but not limited to, visual and/or audiological appliances and devices to increase mobility.

Working Conditions:

Work is generally performed in community settings such as consumer/family homes.
