BASIC PURPOSE:
To ensure patients are registered for outpatient, ER, clinic appointments in a timely and professional manner. Process incoming calls and directs in a courteous manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS FOR PATIENT ACCESS REPRESENTATIVE

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and feeling are necessary body movements utilized in performing duties throughout the work shifts.
2. Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
3. Must be able to read and write legibly in English.
4. Visual acuity must be within normal range.
5. Must have reading and comprehension ability.
6. Must have the ability to move freely through the facility to perform daily and special tasks.
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must be capable of handling information of a confidential nature.
2. Must have the ability to work successfully under highly stressful conditions, and must be capable of adapting to varying workloads and work assignments on a constant basis.
3. Must have the ability to comprehend and perform oral and written instructions and procedures.
4. Must have effective reading and comprehension skills.
5. Must have strong communication skills, written and verbal.
6. Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and all shifts.
7. Must have ability to prioritize tasks.
8. Must have independent decision-making ability.
9. Must be capable of using computers to input and retrieve information.
10. Must have the ability to respond to emergency situations in a calm, professional manner.
Job Duties
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school graduate or equivalent with knowledge of business procedures.
2. Must successfully complete 90 day orientation as a Patient Access Representative with a satisfactory 90 day performance evaluation.
3. Maintain current CPR certification.
4. Maintain confidentiality/assure the rights of the patient are protected at all times.
5. Well organized and able to transfer information accurately in a friendly and courteous manner in dealing with the public.
6. Deal with the public in all types of situations.
