    To provide leadership, coordination, comprehensive planning and implementation of student activities program for grades 6-8.
    Job Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Provide leadership for the middle schools student activities program (athletics, enrichments, intramurals), and as appropriate, supporting the 6-12 activities program as part of the student activities program staff.
    • Responsible for the daily operation of the middle school activities programs (intramurals, athletics, and enrichments), scheduling, transportation, facilities use, etc
    • Coordinate the hiring of personnel in the middle level student activities area, including responsibilities for the hiring process, recommendations for employment, orientation and retention, providing a program of training and improvement for all middle level employees working in the student activities area, consistent with policies and procedures established by the human resource department of Minnetonka Public Schools.
    • Assist in developing standards of performance for activity supervisors, advisors, and coaches; supervise and evaluate staff according to these standards; and assist in a program of professional development to assure the highest quality of activity supervision.
    • Supervise and coordinate, on an annual basis, the development of schedules for all student activities in grades 6-8 through the Classic Lake Conference and other coordinating organizations to assure the smooth operation of student activities grades 6-8.
    • Supervise and coordinate the arrangements of all student support activities necessary for a quality and efficient student activities program and to assure maximum opportunities for students in grades 6-8 in a safe and healthy atmosphere.
    • Evaluate the program, and seek ways to improve, and present recommendations for changes to the Director of Activities.
    • Responsible for communication of activities 6-8 programming to participants, parents, coaches/directors, administration and public regarding middle school programs.
    Specific Responsibilities:
    • Enforce all rules of the Minnesota State High School League and Minnetonka Public School District Policies as they pertain to the respective enrichment activity.
    • Assist the Director of Activities with hiring, development and evaluation of assistant advisors and coaches.
    • Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
    • Recommend purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriate to the Director of Activities.
    • Enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establish and oversee activity penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.
    • Responsible for the coordination of all 6-8 student registration activities.
    Knowledge and Skills:
    • Understanding of and agreement with the Minnetonka Public School District's Student Activity and Athletic Code and the Coaches/Advisors Handbook.
    • Knowledge of State, Federal and Minnetonka Public School Board Policies regarding student conduct and appropriate disciplinary action.
    • Evidence of the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, parents, community members and students.
    • Ability to receive work direction.
    • Strong work ethic and dedication to further the benefits of student participation in co-curricular activities.
    • Physical ability to perform essential job functions.
    Licensing Requirements:
    Applicant must possess a coaching license or complete a MSHSL alternative program.
    Compensation:
    Compensation in accordance with Schedule B of the Teacher Master Agreement.
