Job Description:
Professionals in this position will recruit students to the Iron Range Engineering program in Virginia, MN, lead on-campus activities while students are taking part in the 5-month on-site intensive training period (the Bell Academy), mentor and facilitate the professional and design development of the student engineers while they are on-campus and on co-op placement, and liaison with industries (nation-wide) that employ the co-op students.
Required Qualifications:
  • B.S. or B.A. degree (conferred on an official transcript at the time of application.)
  • 1 year of experience in engineering practice or college program recruiting or industry relations or higher education program delivery or technical communication or program development/assessment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish professional relationships (with industry reps, students, college faculty, colleagues).
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated in initiating contacts with potential partners.
  • Basic understanding of science and engineering disciplines.
  • Advanced understanding of engineering professional skills.
  • Basic understanding of engineering design process.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and record keeping skills (using spreadsheets and/or database technology)
  • Ability to participate in program development and assessment.
Other Requirements:
Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.
Based on the essential functions of this positions, MMB Policy #1422, and University policies relating to flexible work, this position is eligible for the following work modes:
  • Case by Case/Situational Telework: A position that may include a temporary reassignment or work outside the permanent/principal work location to meet short-term needs. Up to 30% of the time.
Employee should be able to carry a laptop and educational materials as needed.
About:
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The position will be located in Virginia, Minnesota. The position will require out of state travel to community college partners in order to build relationships, recruit students, and liaison with industries. There will be occasional travel to Mankato. Will be required to work occasional evening hours to lead activities during intensive student training period. May need to work early morning or evening hours to facilitate students on co-op.

  • The salary range denoted above is the contractual range; however, salary upon hire is dependent upon qualifications and experience.
