Minnesota Discovery Center is Hiring a Marketing and Development Director Near Chisholm, MN

The Marketing and Development Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing all fundraising activities to secure financial resources and support for the organization's mission and programs. This role involves developing and executing strategic fundraising initiatives, cultivating donor relationships, and managing fundraising campaigns and events. This role is also responsible for developing and implementing strategic marketing initiatives to enhance the organization's visibility, engage stakeholders, and drive support for its mission. This role involves crafting compelling messaging, managing digital and traditional marketing channels, and collaborating with internal teams to achieve organizational goals.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, marketing, communications or related field.
  • Proven track record of success in fundraising, grant writing, donor cultivation, and relationship management.
  • Strong leadership, marketing, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work environment both independently and collaboratively.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the organization.
  • Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, fundraising, business administration, marketing, communications, or related field.

Expectations:

Fundraising Strategy Development (30%):

  • Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to achieve annual fundraising goals and long-term financial sustainability.
  • Conduct prospect research to identify grants, potential donors, sponsors, and funding opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to establish fundraising priorities and targets.
  • Develop and execute a Corporate Sponsorship and Event Sponsorship

Marketing and Communication (30%):

  • Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies aligned with the organization's mission and objectives.
  • Create engaging content for various marketing channels, including website, social media, email newsletters, and print materials.
  • Oversee social media accounts, monitor engagement, and respond to inquiries and comments in a timely manner.
  • Oversee the design and production of marketing materials such as brochures, flyers, and promotional items.
  • Collaborate with other managers to promote events, campaigns, and initiatives.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, audience preferences, and potential partnership opportunities.
  • Monitor and analyze the performance of marketing campaigns, using metrics to optimize strategies and improve results.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media contacts, influencers, and community partners to expand the organization's reach.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices, emerging trends, and relevant technologies to enhance marketing efforts.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for senior management, board members, and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Manage marketing and development department staff.

Grant Writing and Management (20%):

  • Research, write, and submit grant proposals and applications to foundations, government agencies, and other grant-making organizations.
  • Manage the grant application process, including grant tracking, reporting, and compliance with grant requirements with accountant support.
  • Work closely with program staff to gather data, outcomes, and impact metrics for grant proposals and reports.

Donor Cultivation and Stewardship (10%):

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with individual donors, major donors, corporate sponsors, foundations, and other funding sources.
  • Develop personalized cultivation plans for major donors and prospects, including stewardship activities and engagement opportunities.
  • Ensure timely and personalized acknowledgment of donations and ongoing communication with donors to foster long-term relationships.
  • Oversee, develop, and increase membership program and incentives.

Fundraising Campaigns and Events (10%):

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising campaigns, including annual appeals, online giving campaigns, and special fundraising events with support of Sales and Events Manager.
  • Develop campaign messaging, materials, and promotional strategies to engage donors and supporters.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records and fundraising data in the organization's Donor Perfect database.
  • Track donor interactions, gifts, pledges, and revenue projections.
  • Generate reports and analysis to evaluate fundraising performance and inform decision-making.
