Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board is Hiring a Special Service Attendant: Park Event Attendant & Ambassador(Temporary) Near P7400, MN

The Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board (MPRB) is accepting applications for well-rounded Park Event Attendant & Ambassador to represent the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board as a point of contact for general information services and permitted events. Park events may include attending outdoor wedding ceremonies and festivals, as well as MPRB-hosted markets, music, & movies in the park programs and sports leagues. As an ambassador, you’ll provide basic park information and directions to patrons in need at some of the busiest park locations in the city. This position provides a great way to experience many of the Minneapolis parks as well as the diverse events and patrons that frequent them daily.
This position may be assigned to different areas. Duties, tasks, responsibilities, and qualifications will vary depending on assignment. This position works a flexible schedule May through September.

Established in 1883, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) oversees a renowned urban park system spanning 7,059 acres of parkland and water. Featured among its 185 park properties are 55 miles of parkways, 102 miles of Grand Rounds biking and walking paths, 22 lakes, 12 formal gardens, 7 golf courses and 49 recreation centers. The MPRB is proud to provide services, programs and activities that meet the park and recreation needs of diverse communities and ensure race equity, gender inclusion and universal access. Altogether, MPRB properties receive about 30 million visitors annually, and employs approximately 617 full-time and 1,400 part-time and seasonal employees.

  • Provide basic park information and connect diverse audiences to the parks.
  • Attend and evaluate outdoor events in the parks.
  • Assist in supporting MPRB-hosted programs such as park markets and pop-up dog parks.
  • Act as point of contact at outdoor ceremonies ensuring the permitted site is cleared for use.
  • Set up yard activations at specific parks in the system to engage with park patrons and bring people to the parks.
  • Assist MPRB in identifying and addressing the park and recreation needs of underserved and under-represented communities.
Nice to Have:
  • Experience in parks, recreation, events, tourism, hospitality.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
Skills Crucial to Success in This Role: 
  • Knowledge of principles and best practices of customer service.
  • Knowledge of principles and best practices of working with a diverse customer base. 
  • Ability to work out of doors in all weather conditions. 
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
  • Ability to adapt to busy and changing environments and conditions.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule May through September.
