Statistics and machine learning play a critical role in the development and operation of MineSense products. To help develop the software and machine learning models, MineSense needs smart and motivated people with a passion for statistics and programming. As a result, we are looking to add a Data Science Co-op to our Data Science team based in Vancouver, BC.

Please note this role is for Students or New Graduates ONLY and the deadline for applying to this position is 24th May 2024.

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop machine learning models for complex sensor data to predict ore properties.
• Work with the Sensors and GeoScience Teams to automate data processing and model training procedures.
• Develop Python packages to assist in data analysis.
• Statistical analysis of observational studies.
• Analysis of chemometric data.

• Completing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering Physics, Physics, or a related field.
• Experience writing scientific software in Python or R.
• Experience with Git or related version control tools.
• Experience applying common machine/statistical learning methods for practical data analysis.
• Experience with linear and generalized linear models.
• Excellent written and oral communication.

• Required skills:
• Programming in Python or R.
• Understanding of the theory and application of common machine learning models.
• Statistical design of experiments.
• Data analysis (exploratory, validation, processing, modelling).

• Recommended qualifications:
• Programming in C .
• Experience analyzing high-dimensional data.
• Experience with common geostatistical methods.
• Experience with a deep learning framework (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch).

The salary offered to the successful candidate will be based on their experience, knowledge and skills they bring to MineSense, market data based on their location as well as internal equity. Keeping this mind, the salary offered can be outside of the range posted. We are in growth mode and are looking for talented folks at all levels, so please do not hesitate to apply.
