We are looking for a Chief Financial Officer
This full-time, in office position will be eligible for a comprehensive and valuable benefit program, including 100% paid medical, dental, and vision premiums for employees, 15 days PTO, 12 holidays, flexible spending accounts, and up to a 4% 401K match! In addition, the CFO is eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan tied to company and individual performance. We also offer a long-term incentive plan to align company and colleague success over time.
The annual base salary range for this role is $325K to $350K. Position Overview The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the financial and operational strategy and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results. In addition, the CFO serves as a strategic advisor and partner to the CEO and company leadership and serves as the primary liaison with investors, analysts, and other stakeholders. The position requires strong leadership skills, strategic thinking abilities, and a deep understanding of financial markets and regulatory requirements.
This position will be based in Vista, California and will be primarily an office based, Monday-Friday position. Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute financial strategies to support the company’s growth objectives.
  • Guiding the companies through significant financial events including potentially leading the preparation and execution of a reverse merger or Initial Public Offering (IPO), including due diligence, financial modeling, and prospectus development.
  • Oversee financial reporting processes and ensure compliance with regulatory standards, including SEC requirements. Ensures that financial information, analysis, and reporting is accurate and ensure compliance with appropriate GAAP and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks through proactive analysis and strategic planning.
  • Implement robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Manage financial and business performance by developing appropriate metrics on which to measure the company’s business, monitoring variances to forecasts, and developing action plans to address variances.
  • Responsible for cash management, cash forecasting, accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  • Oversee budgeting and the implementation of budgets to monitor progress and present financial metrics internally. Monitor capital requests and expenditures to ensure they are within budget and schedule.
  • Manage tax statement preparation with vendors as needed for all related company and shareholder activities.
  • Develop of small team of professionals by managing work allocation, training, problem resolution, performance evaluations, and the building of an effective team dynamic.
  • Assist the CEO and executive team in the development and execution of operating policies and procedures as needed.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors and legal counsel.
  • Communicate financial performance, business strategies, and growth prospects effectively.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to develop of small team of professionals by managing work allocation, training, problem resolution, performance evaluations, and the building of an effective team dynamic.
  • Experience and understanding of the start-up to mid-stage company, specifically regarding the efficient use and management of resources. 
  • Strong ability to provide strategic level input to senior leadership while delivering a “hands-on” approach to the operations management of all financial functions.
  • Strong process improvement and technology skills.
  • Knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and budgeting.
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, SEC regulations, and accounting principles.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, including the ability to think critically and strategically about financial and business issues and to propose and implement change.
  • Expertise in technical skills including accounting principles, budgeting, financial analytics, data analysis, budgeting, tax, and compliance, specifically in the medical device or pharmaceutical industries.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, or finance or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. MBA is preferred. CPA is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in corporate accounting/finance, including supervisory experience.
  • Experience working in the life sciences, specifically medical device, pharmaceutical, or biomedical industry.
  • Proven experience as a CFO or in a senior finance role, preferably in a publicly traded company or a company undergoing significant financial transactions.
  • Demonstrated success in leading financial strategies and driving business performance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate challenges and develop innovative solutions.
  • Strong leadership capabilities, with a track record of building and motivating high-performing teams.
