Overview

Performs work that requires strong knowledge in one of the skilled trades areas. Works in an area of specialization, attempts to troubleshoot problems, and provides recommendations for improvement. Specializes in one area or equipment family, receiving greater direction, and working on more standard equipment.

Responsibilities

·Performs maintenance that requires a basic understanding of a skilled trades and/or equipment family, such as carpentry, plumbing, pipefitting, electrical, HVAC, and related areas; contacts the supervisor or lead when work requires expert knowledge.

· Receives direction from Maintenance Tech II, III or Maintenance Lead, manuals, specifications and other documentation to understand work requirements and needs.

· Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems in an equipment family and/ provides assistance to customers or other maintenance staff to troubleshoot and problem solve.

· Basic skills in operation of hand and power tools.

· Completes work orders and paperwork regarding daily maintenance and repair duties.

· Handles and labels tools, materials, and equipment according to safety and operational principles and practices.

· Ensures compliance with operating policies and procedures to maintain a safe environment and efficient operations. Wear personal protective equipment as required.

· Communicates with all departments within the organization to maintain a safe environment and ensure quality products.

· Moves office equipment, chairs, cubicles, tables, and related items; assembles, sets-up, and tears down items as appropriate.

· Performs general maintenance activities, such as changing light bulbs, hanging pictures or signs, moving parts and equipment, performing basic preventative maintenance, and other routine or standard building and equipment maintenance.

· May perform various other janitorial or housekeeping activities, such as cleaning rooms, washing walls, handling trash, landscaping, shoveling snow, and related duties as needed.

· Continually contribute to the improvement of Minco’s products, processes and services to meet or exceed customer requirements and quality objectives.

· Develop knowledge, skills and abilities in the areas of Continuous Improvement (Lean, Standard Work, Six Sigma, problem solving, innovation, etc.).

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience Requirements:

· One year of experience performing basic maintenance tasks.

Educational Requirements:

· High school graduate or equivalent education and experience. Completion of an Apprenticeship or Associates degree can be substituted in lieu of experience.

Skill Requirements:

· Performing basic skilled trades functions, such as carpentry, plumbing, pipe fitting, electrical, HVAC, or related function.

· Applying basic maintenance and repair principles and practices of equipment family

· Basic understanding of specialized equipment families

· Understanding of at least one skilled trades areas

· Troubleshooting and diagnosing basic equipment and machinery problems

· Operating power tools, equipment, and machinery

· Reading manuals, specifications, and documentation

· Ensuring compliance with applicable safety and operational guidelines, policies, and procedures

· Understanding of basic computer skills, such as data entry and operation

· Effective written and verbal communication skills

Work Environment:

· May be subject to outside environmental conditions. No effective protection from the weather.

· May be to subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

· May be subject to extreme cold. Temperatures typically below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity.

· May be subject to vibration. Exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body.

· May be required to function in narrow aisles or passageways.

Physical Requirements:

· Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, picking/pinching, grasping and repetitive motion.

· Lifting: Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

· The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., custodial, food services, general laborer, etc.) or to make general observations of facilities or structures (i.e., security guard, inspection, etc.).
