Milwaukee Valve Company is looking for a 1st Shift Journeyman Tool & Die Maker I to join our Prairie Du Sac, WI team in Department 761. This position has a starting hourly wage of $30.74.
*This position is eligible for a $1,000 sign-on bonus. The first half ($500) is payable after successful completion of the orientation period and the second half ($500) is payable after one year of employment.*
The regularly scheduled hours for this position are 7:00AM-3:30PM, Monday through Friday. Overtime may become a possibility or even required. When working overtime, the regularly scheduled shift is adjusted by 1-2 hours at either the beginning or end of the regularly scheduled shift. Overtime may also be requested or mandatory on Saturday as well.

Summary - The Journey Tool & Die Maker(I) will be responsible for the set-up and operation of all types of manual and all CNC machines including the Wire EDM. Also must perform all tool grinding and sharpening that may be required of them. Must be able to read and comprehend all types of blueprints and documents. The Journey Tool & Die Maker(I) will perform all of the operations involved in the making of fixtures, jaws, specialty gages, shop parts, and cutting tools. The Journey Tool & Die Maker (I) must also have the ability to perform the inspection of machined tools and parts by the use of all types of measuring equipment. Proficiency in math and computer skills is also required. The Journey Tool & Die Maker will also assist in the Training of all Labor Grades 5F thru 10F. A Journey Mans Card is not required but must have at least 1-2 years’ experience in Tool Room type of work.

Education and/or Experience - Two year certificate from college or technical school; or eighteen to twenty four months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, Blue prints and procedure manuals. Have the ability to write routine reports and correspondences. Have the ability to communicate effectively.
Mathematical Skills - Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Have the ability to use trigonometry and some basic geometry skills.
Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Have the ability to deal effectively with routine problems and situations.
