Description

Milwaukee Public Museum is looking for a Public Safety/Security Officer I to work full time, 40 hours a week, schedules are available 4 weeks in advance. We are assessing our staffing needs for each shift and are looking for someone who is interested in 1st shift (7a-3p), 2nd shift (3p-11a), 3rd shift (11a-7a), or rotating shifts. At this time, we do not have a set shift for this position. The Museum requires the Security Department to be manned on a 24 hour, 365 days per year basis. 

Overtime varies on departmental needs and may be on any shift. Schedules include weekdays, weekends, and holidays. 

In this role you will:

  • Safeguard museum collections and ensure the well-being of museum employees and visitors 

  • Use all 5 senses to make observations of irregularities and document them in written reports

  • Patrol, on foot, the over 400,000 square foot building

  • Monitor 200 cameras in the dispatch office and serve as a resource for multiple departments via radio communication

  • You have a high school diploma or equivalent education 

  • You are comfortable working in a union environment

  • You have reliable transportation

Qualifications that are preferred, but not required: 

  • 1 year previous security experience 

  • Prior DAAT training or similar de-escalation and self-defense training

  • CPR, AED, and/or First Aid certification 

  • Prior experience with Access Control systems, MPM uses C-Cure
