The Project Engineer will utilize advanced test development and analysis skills to contribute to the development and qualification of power tool products. This is a hands-on position where the candidate will be required to gain an understanding in the usage and operation of the tools/equipment under development. Throughout a product's development cycle, this position requires strong cross-functional communication, requirements management, data analytics, and hands-on failure analysis to help launch new and exciting solutions that meet user needs. This is a fast-paced environment full of opportunities for innovation in new product test methods. Duties and Responsibilities Act as subject matter expert with respect to product testing, reliability, requirements management and warranty information for new product designs and engineering changes Collaborate with design engineers and marketing to define the product specifications with respect to product life, durability, quality, and user needs Participate in, and conduct, design reviews to showcase project status, risks, and system readiness for testing and verification activities Develop and execute reliability, design, and validation assessments to support successful product introductions based on data driven evidence Responsible for ensuring completion of product qualification test plans, including functional, reliability, and durability testing Develop test plans and prove out test methods based on new or established product designs to ensure products meet customer requirements Analyze and present product usage and risk assessments utilizing statistical techniques such as Weibull analysis, reliability distributions and stress-strength analysis Ensure timely failure reporting and perform root cause analysis for issues observed in life testing and/or field use Occasionally join end user research events to identify "critical to quality" (CtQ) requirements on mechanical and electrical design features Interact with global engineers, suppliers and manufacturing that participate in product development/delivery Track and support multiple projects simultaneously to ensure adherence to schedule and the Milwaukee Tool process Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical Engineering or related engineering field 2 to 5 years of experience in similar product development, systems, reliability, test, and/or quality function Experience including systems engineering fundamentals, requirements management and proven ability to lead a primary function within a project team Background in test development, verification, data collection and analytics. Experience with HALT and other reliability test methods a plus Strong analytical problem-solving skills and sound statistical application in areas such as Design of Experiments, sampling techniques, regression, reliability, FMEA, hypothesis testing, etc. Experience with life data analysis, reliability distributions, and related software is a plus (e.g. Minitab, Reliasoft Weibull ) Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels with creative problem-solving capabilities.
