JOB DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for watching out for fire hazards in the workplace while work is performed by other employees. Keep flammable materials from ignition sources.

• Assist lead management with daily fire watch operations
• Keep track of fire extinguishers daily
• Watch out for fire hazards in the workplace while work is performed by other employees

• Maintain the conditions and requirements stated on the safety permit
• Able to work in confined spaces
• Performs fire prevention activities during hot work operations.
• Maintain close observation to ensure fire safety in work areas.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Must be able to fulfill job requirements as directed by Foreman.
• Must be able to work for 8 to 12 hours per day
• Must be able to work up to 5-7 days a week

Additional responsibilities

Will be responsible for participating and conducting daily audits, relief of fire watch, when needed, enforce rules and regulations of Mills Marine, NavSea, Ships force and HII. Assist in daily maintenance of employee muster location aboard ship. Manage yard wide clean ups that are issued per HII in designated zones. Daily request will vary dependent upon the need. Overall objective is to ensure that Mills Marine provides quality service at an exemplary level and to exceed the expectation of our customer.

Physical Job Demands

• Moderate physical effort required, including standing for extended periods.
• Continuous mental and visual attention required.
• Subject to random drug and alcohol testing
• Lift heavy objects (50-60 /- lbs.)

• Required physical and respirator fit testing

Experience

• 3 years or more in some capacity of Fire Watch general labor experience specifically with

shipboard experience within shipyard environment. In possession or able to obtain fire watch certification

Education

• High School or equivalent
