HOW YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE AS ESTIMATOR:

Candidate must have the ability to prepare detailed analysis of estimate requirements necessary from material summaries with minimum supervision.

  • Review plans for a potential project. Plan may be complete or very conceptual.
  • Verify plans with existing site conditions.
  • Accurately determine and list the scope of work for each trade required to complete the project.
  • Prepare invitations to be selected subcontractors to provide a bid for the project.
  • Review plans and specifications for completeness, inconsistencies, and conflicts.
  • Prepare Requests for Information (RFI’s) as required to the project consultants to obtain a thorough understanding of the project and the requirements to complete it.
  • Coordinate the distribution of bid documents to subcontractors including any subsequent RFI’s, addendums, or other information.
  • Prepare an estimate of quantities and a list of items to compare subcontractor proposals to assure the proposal is complete and qualified.
  • Evaluate subcontractor proposals for consistency with the plans and specifications.
  • Prepare the project budget.
  • Prepare a comprehensive proposal of services containing inclusions, exclusions, clarifications, and alternates.
  • After award of the project, prepare a turnover package for Project Management and participate in the turnover meeting.
  • Assist Project Management with follow-up requests for budgeting.

EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering or related discipline preferred.
  • Experience with Tilt-Up or Medical Offices highly desired.
  • 5 years of position related experience
  • Demonstrates a solid understanding of processes and procedures and resolution of standard and non-standard issues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Advanced written and oral communications skills to present information in a concise and articulate manner.
  • Strong leadership abilities, with the ability to coordinate work on multiple facets of a project.
  • Proficient computer skills, with the ability to use Microsoft Office including Word, Excel (expert preferred), Outlook, and Microsoft Project, On Screen Takeoff on an advanced basis, and Blue Beam.
  • LEED certification a plus
