Miller-Motte College is Hiring a Director of Career Services Near Columbus, GA

We offer an extensive benefits package to full-time employees after 30 days of employment and 2 weeks of paid time off within your first year as well as relocation assistance.

The Director of Career Services is responsible for direct oversight and supervision of the Career Services department. This position is responsible for preparing students and graduates for employment in their field of study, ensuring operations including the development of employment opportunities for students and alumni, participation within the Job Search and Career Planning classes offered as well as overseeing departmental outcomes. The (DCS) will work directly with the campus Executive Director and Home Office to achieve budgeted outcomes and objectives.
In addition, the DCS will assist in ensuring compliance with State, Institutional and Programmatic Accreditation regulations.

Experience Required

  • Associate Degree in a related field from an academic institution accredited by an accrediting agency that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and 2 years Career Services experience.
  • Minimum 1 year management experience
  • 1 year knowledge of and experience with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in staffing and employment placement environment
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills with demonstrated success in collaborating with diverse groups of employees and customers
  • Ability to lead and work in an observation/coaching style environment
  • Strong organizational and problem-resolution skills
  • Good computer skills, including Google products

Required Responsibilities

  • Work closely with and effectively communicate with other department leadership team members in performing day to day expectations of position.
  • Work with students one-on-one and in a group setting to build relationships and provide ongoing assistance and support.
  • Utilize the CareerEdge platform to deliver career connections workshops to enable graduates to obtain employment.
  • Collaboratively work with the Education department to ensure that Career Planning classes provide students with necessary resources to obtain employment. Results should include each student completing Career Planning with a professional resume, obtaining entry-level job interviewing skills from class participation, completing mock interviews, and demonstrating proficient job search techniques.
  • Responsible for completing required exit paperwork, both in group settings and in one-on-one sessions.
  • Consistently review and monitor department outcomes as it relates to any state and/or accreditation standards and employment benchmarks. Prepare state and accreditation reporting to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Ensure documentation in CampusVue/CampusNexus of all correspondence between the career services department and a student/graduate.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with employers to develop partnership opportunities for externships and job placement, including campus tours, on-site meetings, and on-campus support.
  • Participate in and/or facilitate campus Program Advisory Committee meetings to ensure compliance with state and accreditation agencies.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Required Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Interview, hire, and train new staff in the department, as applicable.
  • Accomplish staff results by clearly and frequently communicating job expectations;
  • Plan, monitor, and appraise job results. Provide constructive and timely performance feedback to any direct reports.
  • Oversee the daily workflow of campus career services.
  • Handle discipline of employees in accordance with company policy.
