What you'll do

  • Partners with the department manager in executing and achieving department initiatives and metrics to ensure optimal performance & efficiency gains as well as supporting the overall business goals.
  • Ensures that the assigned personnel are properly onboarded during the new hire process, mentored, motivated, and trained on an ongoing basis. Provides one-on-one coaching for development purposes when required.
  • Oversees the inventory control reporting activities such as full physical and cycle counts for the facility. Ensures the accuracy of the inventory counts related to materials, merchandise and supplies in stock.
  • Ensures that the proper inventory levels for products and supplies are documented and maintained accurately.
  • Responsible for achieving department operating standards and engaging in productivity efficiencies in the form of quality, cost, and on-time delivery standards that support operational excellence. Monitors the day-to-day inventory operations to ensure that the proper inventory levels for products and supplies are documented and maintained accurately.
  • Ensures the assigned staff are knowledgeable and trained regarding department standards and ensures continual adherence to standards through audits and other monitoring processes.
  • Keeps the department manager abreast of daily activities regarding the status of the work schedules and inventory levels. If there are any issues, the supervisor takes the appropriate actions in recommending to the department manager alternate ways to resolve issues.
  • Partners with department staff members in resolving daily inventory issues through various means which include gathering all facts, conducting analysis, and/or using effective problem-solving techniques. Escalates unresolved issues to the department manager for further discussions to minimize fulfillment flow disruptions. Monitors progress to ensure successful closures.
  • Maintains daily report log outlining any fulfillment inventory, quality, and any unusual problems encountered during the shift and communicates this information to the incoming supervisor as necessary.
  • Responsible for providing and supporting human capital initiatives which include interviewing and selecting new talent, onboarding, mentoring, developing, coaching, upgrading talent, recognizing & rewarding top performers, establishing career progression opportunities within the department, promoting employee retention, addressing & correcting performance/behavioral issues, weeding out poor performers, setting clear goals & expectations and holding staff accountable.
  • Responsible for completing the performance review process which includes providing input and feedback on the assessment of employee performance, creating development plans, and completing the sit-down review session with the employee.
  • Participates in formal and/or informal meetings informing the assigned staff regarding the status of projects and other pertinent information and deliverables within the scope of this department.
  • Performs a variety of administrative duties which include setting up/adjusting work schedules, tracking tardies and absences, reviewing, and approving time sheets and time off requests, inputting and extracting data or information from an electronic system which may include fulfillment inventory reports, administering disciplinary actions, recommending wage increases, promotions, demotions, suspensions, terminations, and various other administrative tasks associated with the department's responsibilities.
  • Enforces and ensures that all assigned areas follow the established safe working and housekeeping procedures; promptly corrects hazardous situations. Fosters and enforces a safe working environment via strict compliance with all safety training, procedures, and OSHA regulations.

What you'll bring

  • Requires a High School diploma or equivalent. A bachelor's degree in a related field is desired.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 4 years of equivalent experience which includes previous related supervisory duties and responsibilities in managing a fulfillment inventory unit or other related area from within the supply chain, warehousing, or distribution industry
  • ISO, OSHA, 5S or other continuous improvement type training and knowledge are desired.
  • Possess proficient working knowledge of fulfillment inventory processes, procedures, and warehouse management systems related to the assigned responsibilities that is essential for performing this role.
  • Effective proficiency in using the intranet, email, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and management information systems (MIS).
  • Possess proficient leadership skills in the areas of human capital management, decision making, planning, analytical, problem solving, and process improvement methodologies.
  • Possess proficient interpersonal and influential skills to include de-escalation of personnel issues.
  • Possess proficient customer service, detail oriented, results-driven, and administrative.
  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively lead others and foster a productive work environment.
  • Possess effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of internal customers, managers, stakeholders, and subject matter experts.
