KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED TO CARRY OUT THE JOB: (Technical Knowledge, Years of Related Experience, Certifications Required, Equipment and/or Systems Experience)
  • High School diploma, trade school or general education degree (GED) required. Ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational process, safety and quality instructions) a must. Some college preferred. PC skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word.
  • At least three years operations experience and some lead experience with thorough knowledge of the methods and techniques used in a similar environment. Mechanical aptitude essential.
  • Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
  • Be an example of integrity and honesty to the less experienced staff and set the bar and expectation with subordinates.
  • Proven and professional leadership skills and abilities with supervisory responsibilities a must.
  • Exposure to shift scheduling cost control, safety, environmental and facilities/capital equipment management.
  • Demonstrates leadership ability and ability to coordinate resources (personnel, equipment, materials, facilities, funds and reputation).
  • Ability to prepare accurate, effective, complete and easily understood written communications and reports.
  • Must have the ability to diagnose process problems, troubleshoot basic equipment and take corrective action within policy and procedure limitations.
  • Must understand and follow all safety policies and apply good safety practices while working and possess an exemplary safety record.
  • Must have ability to handle diverse tasks simultaneously and be able to work effectively in a fast paced environment with interruptions. Adaptation to change essential.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the care and use of all site specific, facility required Personal Protection Equipment.
  • Must pass a drug screen, pre-employment physical and background check.
  • Must have ability to communicate at all levels including engineers, operations staff, mechanical and electrical staff and with customers.
  • Knowledge and understanding of inventory tracking for equipment and supplies for facility.
TRAINING REQUIRED: Employee Orientation; Safety, Equipment, Regulatory training; financial and budget training; performance management. Must stay abreast of advancements in technology and systems. Advanced functions may be assigned as part of development.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION:
  • Plans daily/weekly activities and work schedule and recommends overtime as needed. Supervises daily operation and maintenance and ensures compliance with operational, QA/QC, safety, and environment, practices and procedures. Ensures that resources are being utilized cost effectively to achieve site objectives. Teaches cost control and provides effective counsel/direction, especially where corrective actions are needed. Goals and other performance and P&L metrics.
  • Proactively oversees safety, facility appearance and environmental issues and ensures compliance with federal and state standards including Waste Disposal requirements. Ensures that issues are identified and addressed and elevated in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate, conduct and provide recordkeeping for pre-tower safety meetings.
  • Understanding of and follow through with incident reporting procedures, including appropriate protocol in informing top management on accidents, causes and cost.
  • Works with sales and other internal departments to communicate and resolve customer concerns in a timely and diplomatic manner.
  • In conjunction with Operations Manager, partners with Human Resources and HSE to provide input into hiring and firing, performance evaluation, salary and job change actions. Coaches and counsels’ team and document employee relations issues. Ensures that all employees receive safety training. Oversees and reviews performance of 3rd party contractors on site.
  • Assists in sourcing equipment, materials, supplies, parts and/or services needed to operate and maintain site.
  • Prepares reports for management and regulatory purposes as required.
  • May be asked to fill in or help handle excess workload demands frequently.
SCOPE AND IMPACT OF THE JOB
Revenue or budget managed: Provides input to budget and can authorize or recommend expenditures within an approved budget. Monitors assigned budget elements to ensure c cost effective operation and works to quickly correct negative deviations. Investments decided upon/managed: N/A
Number of direct reports: 2-10
Titles of Reports: Pump Operators, Receivers, Wash Rack Operators
Nature of Supervisory Responsibility: Provides day to day supervision of assigned team.
DEGREE OF SUPERVISION:
Works under general supervision, however expectation is for supervisor to work independently in managing the crew and their own time effectively. Broad instructions covering generally what is to be done, limitations, quality and quantity expected, deadlines and priorities are given. Additional specific instructions are given for new, difficult or unusual assignments. Uses initiative in carrying out recurring assignments. Supervisor assures that the work is technically accurate and in compliance with instructions or established procedures. Makes decisions independently and expected to problem solve to ensure an efficient and safe working environment for the company, employees and community, Coach and develop employees.
Complexity of Duties and Decisions: (The extent to which duties are guided by standard policy, practice or precedents or the amount of resourcefulness and planning and creative effort in devising new methods, policies, procedures, products or original application.)
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned project and tasks, but must follow company guidelines, policies and procedures. May recommend or adapt procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment to meet special needs. Is expected to suggest process improvements,
Initiative: Acts to prevent conditions from getting out of hand or to resolve an issue as they see fit and reports immediately. Is preauthorized to cope with issues with diplomacy and then report the results of their actions right away.
Error Impact: Supervisor reviews detailed check for technical adequacy and conformance with practice and policy. Frequently reviews work of others and teaches how to detect and correct errors.

Spends significant amount of time in operations environment and time in the office environment.
May need to drive company vehicles in the course of job duties. Occasional travel for training and meetings. Exposed to possible operations hazards including dust, fumes, chemicals, machinery, hot or cold work temperatures, slippery surfaces, water and electrical hazards.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and vibration. The noise level in work environment is usually moderate.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, climb, crouch, and kneel; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, ability to adjust focus, and peripheral vision.
