Midwestern University is Hiring a Pharmacy Technician- AZ- Animal Health Institute Near Glendale, AZ

Summary
The Pharmacy Technician is part of the Animal Health Institute and reports to the Operations Manager.This position will work with the management team to devise and carry out processes and procedures to support the operation of the Companion Animal Clinic (CAC) outpatient pharmacy, and will be responsible for inventory management for drugs and medical supplies used in the Animal Health Institute (AHI).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Dispense veterinary pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and prescription diets to clients of the CAC pharmacy as prescribed.
  • Provide excellent customer service to animal-owning clients and internal customers in the CAC.
  • Follow dispensing procedures and protocols developed and used in the pharmacy.
  • In consultation with the operations manager, provide ongoing evaluation of pharmacy procedures, and modify/update as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with American Animal Hospital Association standards for operation of a veterinary clinic pharmacy.
  • Maintain inventory of products dispensed from the pharmacy and submit reorder points to inventory personnel for timely ordering.
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of Omnicell systems used in the CAC.
  • Assist in the development of a veterinary pharmacy clinical rotation for pharmacy and/or veterinary students, and provide technical instruction under the direction of faculty members.
  • Learn, know, and operate all pharmacy and inventory functions of StringSoft veterinary practice management software.
  • Other assigned duties.

Education and/or Experience
A High School Diploma or GED is required.Must have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in an animal hospital or veterinary clinic setting with previous experience with veterinary pharmaceuticals. CVT certification from the State of Arizona is preferred.
Computer Skills
Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
