Midwestern University is Hiring a Building technician Near Glendale, AZ

Summary

The Building Technician performs routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures on university on-site buildings and off-site houses and condos.

This position reports to the Lead Building Technician or the Maintenance Supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs minor and major repair of all university buildings, houses, condos, and equipment, both on and off-site. (Major repairs are performed under the supervision of licensed maintenance workers.)
  • Performs preventive maintenance procedures on building mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis; inspects belts, checks fluid levels, replaces filters, greases bearings, seals, etc.

  • Completes daily, weekly, and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
  • Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of metals, such as iron, steel, brass and lead, and nonmetals such as glass, and plastic.
  • Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures such as sinks, commodes, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, dishwashers, and water softeners.
  • Repairs and maintains plumbing by replacing washers in leaky faucets, mending burst pipes, and opening clogged drains.
  • Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and / or Experience

High School diploma / GED equivalent with 4-6 years of related experience in building maintenance or a 1-year certificate or Associates degree in a related field with at least 2-4 years of experience related to building maintenance either mechanical, electrical, or plumbing.

A 1-year certificate or Associates degree is preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license.

Computer Skills

Strong knowledge in computer programs : Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams. Familiarity with Campus Facilities Management Systems.

Practice knowledge on budgeting and budget requisitioning systems.
