Midwestern University is Hiring an Assistant Manager of Patient Accounts- AZ- Eye Institute Near Glendale, AZ

The Assistant Manager of Patient Accounts is responsible for the revenue cycle for the Multispecialty clinics. This position oversees the Patient Account Representatives. This position reports to the Manager of Patient Accounts.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Organize, direct, coordinate, assign work assignments, and assist Patient Account Representatives in daily activities including patient scheduling, registration, cashiering, insurance verification, prior authorizations, managing patient panels
  • Hire, train, manage and evaluate patient account staff members
  • Coordinate proper staff coverage for clinics
  • Monitor practice management task queues, phone queues, and other daily duties assigned to Patient Account Representatives to ensure high quality work is performed in a timely manner
  • Work in conjunction with Manager of Patient accounts on quality control program to ensure accuracy, timeliness, productivity, and service quality
  • Maintain records and/or files for assigned area. Ensure appropriate documentation is timely and accurately entered into departmental application
  • Function as leader, resource and mentor, ensuring patient care and department operations are efficient, accurate, and uninterrupted.
  • Serves as liaison to clinical departments including assurance of efficient operations to meet customer needs for both internal customers (physicians, staff, and management) and external customers (patients, families, and surrounding community).
  • Support change and participate in development, interpretation, implementation and evaluation of process improvement as well as changes directed by regulatory agencies. Work with staff to make necessary changes
  • Coordinate and participate in special projects as assigned
  • Participate as a member on various clinic committees
  • Ensure that federal and state collection/follow-up requirements and regulations are achieved
  • Answer patient questions, inquires and concerns regarding their accounts
  • Assist patients applying to the MWU hardship program and assist in managing the program for various clinics
  • Perform all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers of Midwestern an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating core and leader behaviors at all times.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree preferred. A minimum of 5-7 years of clinic finance experience. 1-2 years of supervisory or lead experience preferred. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must. Must be able to work independently and multi-task working on several projects at once. Knowledge of Federal and State guidelines, managed care contracting, payer filing and appeal limits, and credit and collection policies is also required.

Computer Skills

Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience with Medical Practice Management systems, EHR, payer websites, clearinghouses.
