Job Title: PLC Network Technician
Overview:
MPF seeks a skilled PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) Network Technician to join our
Information Technology team. The PLC Network Technician will maintain and troubleshoot
programmable logic control systems and software used in our manufacturing processes. The ideal
candidate will understand PLC Software functionality, Industrial Networking, Manufacturing
Software Integrations, and Microsoft SQL language.
Responsibilities:
Network Installation and Software Setup: Install, set up, and configure programmable logic control
network systems according to engineering specifications and project requirements.
Testing and Debugging: Conduct thorough testing of PLC network systems to ensure proper
functionality. Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues as they arise, employing diagnostic tools
and techniques to identify and resolve problems efficiently.
Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on PLC network and software systems to ensure
optimal performance and prevent downtime. Diagnose and repair hardware and software faults or
malfunctions promptly to minimize production disruptions.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of system configurations, network changes,
maintenance activities, and troubleshooting procedures. Generate reports and documentation as
needed for compliance and reference purposes.
Collaboration: Collaborate with IT and Manufacturing team members, software vendors, and other
technical staff to keep PLC networks and systems running efficiently. Provide technical support and
assistance to other departments as required.
Training: Train operators and maintenance personnel on the operation, maintenance, and
troubleshooting of PLC software and hardware systems. Develop training materials and conduct
hands-on training sessions to enhance staff proficiency.
Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about advancements in PLC technology and industrial
automation trends.
After Hours Oncall: Be available for after-hours calls or systems troubleshooting during production
downtime events.
Ability for Travel: Traveling for this position will be required. Estimated /- 30%
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in computer science or mechatronics or equivalent work experience is
preferred.
Proven experience as a PLC Technician or similar role in an industrial environment.
Posess a robust working knowledge of the Microsoft SQL programming language.
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, circuits, and industrial control devices.
Familiarity with HMI (Human-Machine Interface) systems and SCADA (Supervisory Control and
Data Acquisition) software is desirable.
Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to analyze complex technical issues.
Practical communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
