Midwest Veterinary Supply is Hiring a Senior Accountant (Hybrid) Near Lakeville, MN

Midwest Veterinary Supply is seeking a Senior Accountant for our Lakeville, Minnesota corporate office.

Job Summary:

 Position reports to the Accounting Manager and is responsible for performing monthly general ledger account reconciliations including analysis of general ledger accounts for accuracy and resolution of differences in a timely manner. Also responsible for preparing and entering journal entries, reviewing and approving expense reports as well as management of users of the expense reporting tool and assisting the sales tax analyst as directed. This is a Hybrid position. 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Completion of the monthly financial statement close process which includes performing weekly and monthly complex and non-complex general ledger account reconciliations, including analysis of those accounts as well as investigating and resolving differences in a timely manner and creation of appropriate journal entries. In addition, analysis and calculation of appropriate accruals, deferrals, reclass or interdepartmental entries, as well as review and analysis of supporting staff’s general ledger coding. Prepare ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed including investigating issues, providing explanations and interpretation. Maintain a thorough understanding of GAAP, general ledger structure and reporting in order to ensure compliance and implement changes as required or necessary. Identify opportunities for improvement in accuracy, efficiency and simplicity within processes.
  • Administration and maintenance of the employee expense approval software as well as administration of the corporate credit card program. Review and approve expense reports as well as manage user questions and issues. 
  • Prepare, review and coordinate documentation in support of external and internal audits and tax return preparation.
  • Provide coaching and training to encourage development of less experienced staff.

Job Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required
  • 2-5 years’ experience in accounting
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, employment policies, operating instructions, and procedural manuals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Strong organizational skills 
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Must be highly skilled in use of Excel spreadsheets
  • Must have excellent work habits including a willingness to get the job done when important deadlines cause departmental pressures

 Regularly use typical office equipment including computer keyboard and terminal, fax and copier.

Work Environment:

This is a Hybrid position. Work is typically performed Monday through Friday in an office environment. Working more than 40 hours per workweek may be required.
