Position Summary

We are actively recruiting for an open position of full time Ophthalmic Technician at our Affiliate, Midwest Eye Center.

Responsibilities

Being part of the Ophthalmic Team, you will be train to be responsible for assisting the ophthalmologist by gathering data pertaining to the patient’s visual status by maintaining an environment conducive to the delivery of efficient quality eye care. You will be soon able to effectively perform appropriate clinical testing.

With training, you will be able to perform the essential duties listed below:

  • Histor Taking
  • Visual acuity measurement
  • Refractometry (measurements for the glasses prescription)
  • Tonometry (measure eye pressure)
  • Measure pupil size and reactivity
  • Test and measure eye muscle function
  • Visual field testing
  • Corneal thickness measurement
  • Corneal curvature measurement
  • Corneal topography

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Graduated from an accredited high school
  • 3 to 5 years’ customer service experience
  • Must be flexible with regards to shift as hours may vary and are dictated by clinic needs
  • Dependable transportation required to travel to other offices as required
  • Ability to pay attention to detail to recognize inconsistencies in test results
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Affable and outgoing personality with professional demeanor
  • The ability to communicate effectively to employees and patients
  • Ability to make independent, accurate decisions regarding the best use of his/her time
  • The ability to seek instruction and advise in areas where he/she is not knowledgeable or when accuracy is uncertain, and findings are inconsistent
  • An attitude that reflects a desire to go beyond the minimum required duties and to learn
