Description

Midwest ENT Specialists is looking for a skilled and flexible Physician Assistant to join our growing Allergy and Asthma team. This position will be responsible for practicing medicine with physician supervision; including conducting examinations and writing prescriptions. Within the physician–physician assistant (PA) relationship, our PAs exercise autonomy in medical decision making and provide a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services in a clinic setting. This individual may practice in several areas including allergy, asthma, ENT, family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery, and surgical subspecialties. Additionally, occasional opportunities for patient education and administrative services may arise.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conducts physical exams, assesses health status, orders and interprets tests, prescribes medications, and treats illnesses including giving injections and suturing wounds. Consults with physicians as needed and refers to physicians for more complicated medical cases or cases that are not a routine part of a PA’s scope of work.
• Monitors therapies and provides continuity of care.
• Triages patient calls and evaluates patient problems. Responds to emergencies including use of CPR and recognition/treatment of anaphylaxis.
• Counsels patient/family on preventive health care.
• Documents patient information and care in medical record.

Requirements

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree and successful completion of accredited physician assistant program.
• Four years of health care experience prior to applying to PA program, plus one year of experience as PA.
• Active certification from the National Commission on Certification of PAs.
• Active MN State PA license.
• Current CPR certificate.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in a clinical setting.
• Specialized training or previous experience in Allergy and Asthma
