Midway Rehabilitation Center needs to hire Employment Placement Specialist to be
responsible for developing and coordinating employment job searches for residents in the community, including initial assessment, scheduling and supervision. At least one year of work experience in guidance, counseling, or job placement is required. Responsibilities: - Employment Placement Specialist:

  • Responsible for developing and coordinating employment job searches for residents in the community, including initial assessment, scheduling and supervision.
  • Provides employment orientation for new residents and assesses their situations so suitable employment can be found
  • Meets with residents to establish job search work plans
  • Provides individual and group job readiness discussions and training in accordance with organizational policies and contract requirements
  • Assists residents in obtaining necessary identity and work documents
  • Conducts group meetings with unemployed residents weekly to teach job search skills, application completion, resume writing, or interviewing techniques
  • Monitors residents pay stubs to ensure they have continued in their employment and have worked the number of hours for which they have been signed out in the log
  • Makes periodic on-site job inspections only if mandated by the contract
  • Develops and maintains a job bank, referral sources for vocational training classes, and a Community Resource Manual with updated employment opportunities and resources
  • Develops working relationships with the state, county and federal program administrators who provide assistance with on-the-job training and education
  • Verifies itineraries, as required by contract, to ensure residents are meeting program goals and contract requirements
  • Verifies residents' employment or school attendance as required by contract
  • Makes entries in residents' files regarding employment, school status, and progress, so progress can be measured, and assistance given, as needed
  • Maintains or exceeds employment goals that have been established by management to improve resident morale and enhance self-esteem
  • Implements formal or informal disciplinary action for rule violations to comply with government and contracting agency requirements
  • Shares observations and recommendations in staff meetings regarding the facility, residents, and staff relations, to identify and solve problems
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding employees, vendors, residents, outside agencies, etc.
  • Complies with work rules and policies and responds positively to directives from managers
  • Adheres to attendance policy, and works overtime as required, to ensure adequate coverage of the program
  • Communicates with staff in a manner that promotes a team spirit and cooperation
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Requirements - Employment Placement Specialis:

  • At least one year of work experience in guidance, counseling, or job placement. Work experience may be substituted with a specialized degree or certification in the field of guidance, counseling, or career development.
  • Familiar with community work force needs and employment services
  • Must have good communication and computer skills
  • Must not have a criminal arrest history
  • Valid driver's license
