Job Title: Experienced Grapple Operator Department: Field / On the Rail

Position Type: Full Time Hours: 40

Job Summary:

Experienced Grapple Operator will drive, maneuver, and control the Grapple to lift, load and organize rail, and/or OTM, in the field, as assigned.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Prior to operating equipment, conducts routine inspections to identify needed maintenance or repairs.

· Adheres to all safety rules, guidelines, and codes.

· Attends daily rail briefing and follows all FRA guidelines, subject to change at any time

· PPE must always be worn on railroad property, according to FRA, Federal Railroad Association

· Monitors gauges and other indicators to ensure safe operation.

· Coordinate machine actions with crew members using hand or audio signals

· Performs or requests necessary repairs to equipment.

· Clean and maintain equipment

· Maintains records of time worked and materials used

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Must have a Class A CDL with a clean Motor Vehicle Report

· Familiarity with hand and power tools and standard equipment care

· Superior skill operating assigned equipment safely and efficiently.

· Ability to travel regularly; out for 3 weeks, home for 1 week, and repeat

Education and Experience:

· One year minimum experience

· Two years’ experience preferred

· One year experience Grapple on the railroad

Physical Requirements:

· Must be able to operate Grapple on and off track

· Prolonged periods of sitting while operating equipment

· Able to work long hours, including evenings and weekends when necessary.

· Able to bend, lift, push, and pull, as necessary
