Qualifications

Positionn Summary:

This position requires providing engineering design of foundations and structures for Direct Reduction (DR) iron plant projects and new technology initiatives.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• N/A

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Provide technical direction and support to subcontractors or client's engineers in the design of structures, foundations, analysis methods, etc.
• Provide direction to Designers or draftspersons from the conceptual design stage to the preparation of civil drawings, framing plans, etc.
• Perform design and design calculations basic to Civil Engineering for structures that support Midrex equipment, ducting, etc., providing load diagrams, analysis methods and detailed analysis, as required.
• Analyze mechanical equipment, ducting, supporting systems, etc. for structural integrity.
• Provide assistance to Mechanical engineers/designers in the layout of equipment, ducting, etc. with input for their structural support.
• Travel on business trips and/or field assignments as required to carry out departmental tasks and functions.
• Work as a teammate with all company departments and employees in all assignments. Work toward building consensus on all assignments by finding solutions which meet the best interests of all parties involved.

Skills/Abilities:

Required:

• Ability to organize and accomplish work assignments in accordance with project schedules.
• Knowledge of and experience with personal computer hardware/software.
• Knowledge of structural element analysis methods for static and dynamic load conditions using commercial computer programs such as STAAD.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and writing skills.
• Ability to organize and direct work of others

Preferred:

• EIT or PE registration preferred.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on design experience on heavy industrial projects, preferably in DR or a steel related industry.

Travel Requirements:

• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 10%, based on project demands).

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Ability to move around a project site, including climbing structures.
