Job Description

Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness in the collection, charge and audit processes relevant to surgical patients and procedures. Responsible for maintaining a high degree of accountability for confidential patient and medical information. Responsible for solving practical problems, dealing with a variety of issues and interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form. Responsible for promoting positive interactions with co-workers, customers and guests.

SHIFT AND SCHEDULE

Monday - Friday 7:30 AM - 3:00 PMESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS• Demonstrates competency in computer skills with proficiency in ORSOS and Affinity. • Demonstrates an understanding of the basic functions of ORSOS; including but not limited to item catalog, charging, making sure clinical documentation supports patient charges and report building. • Reviews surgery and anesthesia charge sheets to ensure that charge codes are correct. • Demonstrates knowledge of protocol for implementation of charge codes for new products, supplies and procedures. • Assists in the compilation of statistical data for monthly, annual, and special reports as requested by both internal and external customers. • Maintains communication with Finance and Billing Departments to ensure charge numbers are assigned for all patient chargeable items being used. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE• High School graduate or equivalent. Knowledge of medical terminology and surgical procedures is preferred. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. The individual must be able to• Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear. • Lifting is limited to 35 lbs. for clinical staff and to 50 lbs. for non-clinical staff. • The individual must use an assisted-lift device or get another individual(s) to assist with the lift that is over these maximum limits.
