Midland College is Hiring a Vice President of Student Services Near Midland, TX

The Vice President of Student Services at Midland College is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction for a comprehensive range of student services. This pivotal role involves overseeing Outreach and Navigation, Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid, Pathways Advising, and Student Life departments. The incumbent will collaborate closely with college leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality services that support student success, retention, and holistic development. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing innovative initiatives, fostering a student-centered culture, and maintaining compliance with relevant policies and regulations. The Vice President of Student Services will play a critical role in shaping the overall student experience and contributing to the achievement of the college's mission and goals.

Responsibilities

  1. Provide leadership and oversight for all student services departments listed above.
  2. Recommend personnel appointments and assignments within Student Services and grant programs to the Provost for approval; act as the primary contact for the Perkins grant at Midland College.
  3. Serve as a member of the President's Cabinet, contributing to institutional decision-making and strategy.
  4. Support and participate in College events as needed.
  5. Engage with students individually to address issues and assess requests for exceptions.
  6. Develop budget recommendations for the Student Services area and present them to the Provost/President.
  7. Play an active role in strategic planning, policy development, decision-making processes, and institutional effectiveness assessment.
  8. Fulfill duties as the designated student discipline official for the College.
  9. Maintain records of student complaints.
  10. Perform any additional duties as assigned by college leadership.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience in college administration
  • Working knowledge of all building needs and equipment in the areas of responsibility
  • Knowledge of general office equipment including computer, email, fax, copier, and telephone system
  • Effectively able to manage time and priorities to meet established deadlines
  • Work and communicate effectively with all levels of co-workers and other external contacts
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Ability to manage several departments and work cooperatively with staff and students
  • Familiar with policy formation and implementation
  • Familiar with Guided Pathways intake advising practice
  • Strong communication, leadership, and presentation skills
  • Work in a team environment with multiple, sometimes changing priorities
  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver License, good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College’s insurance policy
