Position Concept:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Youth Theatre Camp Instructor to lead and facilitate week-long theatre activities for children of various grade levels. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in directing theatre and the arts, experience working with students, and the ability to create a fun and supportive learning environment. This position involves implementing a week-long theatre camp intensive, in which students will learn the basics of theatre, engage in improvisation and acting games, and perform a short play for their families at the end of the week.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Implement age-appropriate theatre curriculum and lesson plans.

· Lead theatre games, exercises, and activities to enhance participants' acting abilities, confidence, and teamwork skills.

· Direct rehearsals for theatrical productions, including casting, blocking, and staging.

· Provide constructive feedback and guidance to participants to help them improve their performance and technique.

· Foster a supportive and inclusive environment where all participants feel valued and encouraged to express themselves creatively.

· Collaborate with other camp staff to coordinate schedules, performances, and special events.

· Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during camp activities.

· Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding camp activities, participant progress, and any concerns or issues that may arise.

· Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and other professional development opportunities as required.

· Perform administrative tasks related to camp operations, such as maintaining attendance records and organizing supplies.

· Attend all required meetings and trainings, including but not limited to: safety trainings, HR, and DEIA trainings.

· All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

· Strong knowledge of theatre principles, techniques, and terminology.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire young people.

· Creative and resourceful problem-solver with a positive attitude and a passion for teaching.

· Ability to adapt lessons and activities to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.

· Patience, flexibility, and the ability to remain calm and composed in high-energy situations.

· Current CPR and First Aid certification (preferred).

· Background check and/or child abuse clearances may be required.

Education and Experience Requirements:

· Bachelor's degree in Theatre Arts, Education, or related field preferred.

· Previous experience working with children and/or teenagers in a theatre or educational setting.

Summer 2024 Camp Dates and Times:

On the Stage I (Grades 1st – 2nd)

June 24th – 28th, 8:30am – 4:30pm

On the Stage II (Grades 3rd – 5th)

July 15th – 19th, 8:30am – 4:30pm

On the Stage III (Grades 6th – 8th)

July 22nd – 26th, 8:30am – 4:30pm

Pay: $18.00 per hour
