The Senior Manager - Government Agency & Industry Relations is responsible for managing critical government agency relationships is important to the success of MidFirst's Mortgage Banking division. Given our focused involvement in the Ginnie Mae, FHA, VA and USDA home loan programs, it is imperative that we manage these relationships diligently and constantly advocate for program changes that seek to add value to both MidFirst while promoting success of the government program. Such relationship management and advocacy work is also performed through trade association workgroups focused on government lending programs.

Primary responsibilities include: 

  • Manage Government Relationships - Assist senior management with government relationships. This includes, but is not limited to Ginnie Mae, FHA, VA and USDA. Activities include routine teleconferences, in person meetings at various national conferences and targeted in person meetings in Washington, DC. Establish excellent working relationship with key government officials. Serve as a point of contact for any incoming inquiries. 
  • Trade Association Workgroups - Assist senior management with trade association workgroups. These include, but are not limited to MBA, ABA, HPC and NMSA. Activities include routine workgroup calls, national conference attendance and other ad hoc events. Establish excellent working relationships with trade association staff and industry peers. Participate in any topical workgroup key to MidFirst business interests. 
  • Coordinate Formal Comment Letters - At various times, it is necessary to submit a formal comment letter in response to a government request for feedback or other policy announcement. Coordinate these activities (which may be direct comment letters provided by MidFirst or via trade associations). Disseminate drafts internally, provide necessary feedback and obtain all required approvals prior to letter submission. 
  • Work internally to impact priority issues - Build relationships with key stakeholders within the mortgage banking lines of business to understand any issue impacting their operation arising from a government program or government rule. Inventory and prioritize all items. Determine and execute the best strategy to approach either a trade group or the appropriate government agency to influence positive change. 

Position Requirements

Candidates must possess 8 years of mortgage servicing or mortgage loan origination experience, to include work on government relations or government affairs, and a Bachelors degree in Business, MIS, Public Relations, Communications, or other similar disciplines.

  • Strong interpersonal skills - persuasion and the ability to influence others

  • Excellent business acumen and leadership skills
