The Senior Structural Engineer will play an essential role in R&D activities to deliver exceptional and market-leading products, with a strong focus on developing innovative features and applying new technologies to indoor and/or outdoor countertop cooking appliances.

Actively work and provide guidance for product development, from ideation to mass production stages. Collaborate, and provide innovative product designs, components, features, and accessories to grow Midea’s patent portfolio.

Work with global engineering teams with some national and international travel.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop innovative home cooking products, including but not limited to indoor and outdoor cooking appliances.
• Use Lean, Six Sigma, and Reliability methodologies to ensure robust and qualified designs.
• Improve design using FEA for structural, packaging, and thermal conditions.
• Conduct laboratory testing to confirm the design and performance of products.
• Good experience with complex parts 3D modeling and GPLM- database administration.
•  Validate product compliance to meet certification agency requirements (i.e., CSA, UL).
•  Leading platform cost optimization and standardization projects.
•  Actively participate in technical project reviews and innovation sessions to develop and protect intellectual property through patents.

Required qualifications, Skills, and Expertise:

• Minimum 3 to 5 years of proven experience in product development and structural design for gas and/or electric cooking appliances.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field. Master’s preferred.
• Good understanding of regulatory and agency requirements for gas and electric appliances.
• Experience in product packing design and shipping protocols.
• Thorough understanding of product and component reliability needs and development of testing plans.
• Finite Element Analysis experience for solving structural and thermal problems is a plus.
• Strong background in metal part processing, tooling fabrication, enameling, and painting.
• Knowledge of design best practices for plastic parts and materials.
• Good LEAN, SIX SIGMA, and Assembly practices as well as GD&T for detailed design specifications.
• Strong problem-solving and failure analysis skills.
• Goal-oriented and self-motivated, creative, and resourceful.
• Strong coaching skills with experience collaborating with remote teams.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
