Middlebury Community Schools is Hiring a Noontime Assistant, 3 hrs/day Near Middlebury, IN

JOB GOALS: To help provide a smooth functioning, safe, student friendly cafeteria and playground environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

Work time will be split between cafeteria related duties and playground supervision duties.

CAFETERIA DUTIES:

  1. Assist with the serving of meals as needed
  2. Help meet students’ needs while in the cafeteria
  3. Assist with the flow of students in and out of the cafeteria
  4. Clean off tables and other light cleaning duties as needed

PLAYGROUND DUTIES:

  1. Provide supervision of students during lunch recess
  2. Ensure that all students are safe and interacting within school established behavioral guidelines

INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT DUTIES: (IF REQUIRED)

  1. Provide instructional assistance to designated students as requested

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

__Completed two (2) years of study at an institution of higher education; or

__Obtained an associate’s (or higher) degree; or

__Passed the Para Pro

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance

instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to speak effectively before groups of school employees, students or parents.

MATHEMATICAL SKILL:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to apply common sense and understanding.
