Brief DescriptionMiddleburg is seeking an experienced and effective Director of Safety and Quality Control. As the safety director, you are responsible for managing the company's safety programs, developing a culture of safety and risk management, and mitigating risk through best-in-class quality control measures. The purpose of this position is to ensure that a safety program meets the requirements of OSHA and other standards pertaining to the construction industry.Position Overview-
  • Develops and articulates the Company's safety vision, objectives, strategies, policies, and procedures in order to build a safety culture dedicated to best-practice behavior.
  • Promotes employee engagement through proactive leadership, management training, and interaction with subcontractors and inspectors.
  • Establish, manage, and maintain records of training and certifications, keeping updated records of expirations, reporting, and setting up training for new employees and existing employees who have expired certifications.
  • Develop, analyze, and maintain safety performance metrics, such as Experience Modification Rates, Incident Rates, and Return on Safety Invested.
  • Assess quality control processes on projects corporately by conducting inspections and analyzing deficiency reports in order to identify opportunities for developing preventive and corrective actions.
  • Ensure that the documentation of site meetings, including but not limited to owners, subcontractors, and quality control meetings, is complete, accurate, and timely.
  • Make sure that documentation for the close-out as-builts, operations and maintenance manuals, punch lists, rework lists, and subcontractor completion is complete, accurate, and timely.
  • Plan and develop an annual budget for quality control functions and training.
  • Develop a high-performance, customer-oriented quality control team, through hiring, coaching, and training.
  • Establish and implement a quality control training program that meets internal and external requirements (clients & regulating entities) so that staff is trained to perform their tasks and meet the expectations associated with their roles.
  • Ensure the quality of each project by providing leadership to quality control managers and other individuals responsible for quality control.
  • Identifies the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions and conclusions and monitors the results to make improvements or correct errors.
  • Assure that staff safety and health training meet internal and external (clients and regulatory entities) requirements so that they are equipped with the necessary training to carry out their duties safely.
  • Conducts supervises, and analyzes inspections and incident data to identify opportunities to develop preventive and corrective measures to minimize hazards.
  • Develops annual plans & budgets for safety & health initiatives, including training.
RequirementsDesired Knowledge and Experience-
  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial Hygiene, Safety Management, Environmental Science, Occupational Health or another related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of commercial construction safety management; or a combination of education and experience.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) credential a plus
  • Extensive knowledge of Federal and State-specific OSHA regulations is required.
  • Familiarity with best practices in loss prevention, post-injury response, and claims management.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of employees, from hourly production workers to corporate executives.
  • Must have a good driving record that is clear of excessive and/or habitual traffic violations, points, or accidents.
