We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Veterinary Nurse or Technician to join our team. Middle Creek Veterinary Hospital is a family friendly hospital providing care to small and exotic animal species in the Raleigh area. Our hospital focuses on providing excellence in every client interaction along with the highest quality medical care. Applicants must have a positive, cheerful attitude, along with a strong desire to provide our clients with an outstanding client experience. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience with strong competency in surgery, anesthesia, and client education. The candidate must also have a flexible work schedule with availability Monday through Friday and the availability to work approximately every other weekend per month. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Engaging clients with hospitality and a warm demeanor
• Efficient and thorough appointment and surgical check-in/check-out
• Safe and caring patient restraint of domestic and exotic species.
• Avian handling and wing/beak/nail trimming.
• Confident collection of patient samples for routine laboratory testing, including venipuncture and cystocentesis
• Ability to perform routine laboratory testing and correctly utilize in-house laboratory equipment (ie. ear cytology, fecal analysis, blood smear, urinalysis, heartworm test, etc.)
• Experience with dental and full body radiography
• Comfort with surgical patient prep, including IV catheter placement, sedation management, and endotracheal intubation, as well as patient monitoring and crisis management
• Perform complete dental prophylaxis and dental charting
• Accurate pharmaceutical dispensing and medication administration
• Effective and kind client education
• Initiative to care for hospitalized patients and hospital pets
• Fastidious approach to general hospital maintenance
