Midcoast Federal Credit Union is seeking a Loan Officer I to support our Loan Operations Department. Midcoast is seeking an individual who is highly motivated, positive, outgoing, and influential with a strong emphasis on sales and results to ensure the credit union maximizes lending and ancillary product opportunities with members who apply for credit. This role calls for consistency in displaying the ability to think independently and creatively, effectively responding to each individual member's unique situation while providing innovative results. This role requires the individual to be fully knowledgeable of all credit union consumer lending products and services and confidently offer appropriate solutions to fit member needs. They must also have the ability to communicate with members and employees of all levels clearly, professionally, and effectively in verbal and written form and be proficient with applicable technology. This is a hybrid/remote position based out of our Bath office with some in-person training and onsite work required.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
· Request and review all required information and documentation to complete a loan. Assist member in completing consumer loan applications. Obtain and evaluate credit reports, calculate debt-to-income ratios and evaluate strength and weaknesses of loan applicants. Evaluate collateral requirements and proposed collateral values. Evaluate applicant's eligibility for other types of credit union loans, products, services, and repayment plans for members applying for routine loans. Provides the Underwriter with an accurate loan application and all necessary information to decision the loan. Provides the Loan Processor with all required information to assist with completion of all loan documents and loan closures.
· Participates in developing consumer lending business for the Credit Union. Calls on members to expand existing relationships; calls on prospects seeking opportunities to expand the Credit Union's member base.
· Presents solutions based on individual member circumstances to assist them in meeting their financial goals. Educates members on the terms and conditions of their loan to ensure clear understanding. Presents each member with ancillary products and other credit union services that meet their needs.
· Develop, review, and manage own action plan to ensure that assigned loan production and ancillary sales goals are met.
· Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Experience
1-3 years similar or related experience.
Education
A two-year college degree, or completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
