Midco Brand is Hiring an Underground Construction Foreman - Fargo, ND Near Fargo, ND

JOB PURPOSE:

Direct underground construction crew in the installation, maintenance, relocation, or repair of underground telecommunications network infrastructure. Responsible for the safety of the construction crew and the public. Manage the day-to-day operations of crew and to meet production goals and project requirements.

KEY FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide direct supervision and technical guidance to equipment operators, laborers, and necessary personnel on the construction job site.
  • Communicate effectively, demonstrate, and encourage teamwork skills and able to understand, comprehend, and follow directions in the workplace.
  • Communicate, demonstrate, and enforce safety requirements and best practices.
  • Manage supplies, materials, and equipment used on individual projects.
  • Read and interpret site plans, construction drawings, and scope of work documentation.
  • Monitor progress, quality, safety, and compliance for each
  • Work with State, County, City, Townships, and other entities pertaining to permit requirements and requests.
  • Inspect work in progress and work completed for compliance and quality assurance. Complete the appropriate documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Operate construction equipment such as directional drill, backhoe, mini-excavator, skid loader, etc.
  • Ensure location of all existing underground utilities are properly identified on job sites.
  • Ensure all Utility Locate laws and Damage Prevention Best-Practices are being followed on job sites.
  • for excavation.
  • Possess knowledge of company safety program, practice and enforce safety rules and procedures to ensure the safety of our employees and our communities. Wear safety apparel which includes hard hats (where required), safety vests, OSHA approved boots, etc.
  • Operate and drive a company vehicle in accordance with all company policies including maintaining a safe driving record.
  • Adhere to company privacy guidelines to ensure each customer’s privacy.
  • Maintain regular attendance as required by your position.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform duties of construction team members if needed.
  • Mentor new hires as required.
  • Have and maintain up-to-date knowledge of technological developments in the industry.
  • Function as an effective team member while supporting the efforts and strategies, initiatives, and projects of other departments.
  • Support the mission, vision, and values of the company.
  • Apply personal ethics, honesty, initiative, flexibility, responsibility and confidentiality in all areas of responsibility.
  • Possess an enthusiastic, energetic, self-motivated, and detail oriented approach towards work and all work projects.
  • Possess strong problem solving and decision making skills while using good judgment.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, coworkers and management.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement while creating and implementing viable solutions.
  • Actively follow Rhino policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or GED required. Some college or vocational training preferred.
  • Ideal candidate will have previous Rhino work experience.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in operation of heavy equipment used in the installation of telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Crew leadership experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of construction, the National Electrical Code, OSHA regulations, state and local regulations and general safety standards.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS:

  • The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or carry loads of up to 84 lbs.
  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate/high.
  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time and maneuver in small areas.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The employee must be able to work in an outdoor environment year around in all weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock, radiation, and vibration.
  • Employees may be required to work more than 40 hours per week and other than normal business hours, such as holidays, evenings, and weekends as business demands.
  • The employee could be required to travel up to 50% of flexible scheduled hours.
