Position Summary
Transform lives by providing a wide scope of oversight, remodeling and maintenance of College buildings; oversee construction projects, maintenance, and facility management within the College campuses and locations. Collaborate with various stakeholders, including architects, contractors, faculty, and administrative staff, to ensure that buildings and infrastructure meet safety standards, are well-maintained, and support the educational mission of the College. This role involves hands-on labor, and will also serve the College as a part-time faculty, teaching cohorts of construction trades students.
Duties & Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, and manage construction and renovation projects across campuses and locations.
Develop project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation. Prepare and manage budgets for construction, maintenance, and repair projects.
Monitor progress, address any issues, and ensure timely completion.
Coordinate staff and perform approved construction/remodel projects.
Actively participate in construction activities alongside the construction trades staff.
Demonstrate proper techniques, ensure work is completed to a high standard of quality, and completed on time.
Supervise construction trades staff responsible for routine repairs, preventative maintenance, and upkeep of buildings.
Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance needs and safety hazards.
Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules for HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical, and other facilities.
Monitor expenses, negotiate contracts, and seek cost-effective solutions.
Stay informed about building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
Ensure that all construction and maintenance activities adhere to legal requirements.
Implement safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Work closely with architects, engineers, and contractors during design and construction phases.
Communicate effectively with college leadership, faculty, and staff regarding project updates and facility needs.
Foster positive relationships with external vendors and service providers.
Optimize space utilization within existing buildings. Coordinate office moves and space allocations.
Assist in planning new facilities based on academic and administrative requirements.
Promote eco-friendly practices in construction and building management. Explore energy-efficient solutions and sustainable materials. Support campus-wide sustainability initiatives.
Responsible for the development, updating, revision, and maintenance of program/discipline curriculum and instruction materials.
Responsible for classroom management including maintaining accurate student attendance and grade reports as well as maintaining a clean, organized environment with an emphasis on safety.
Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction of assigned courses using a variety of teaching methods to facilitate the learning of students.
Responsible for the assessment, documentation, and enhancement of student learning by gathering, analyzing, and interpreting attainment of learning outcomes; and related records maintenance.
Ability to report to work on short notice during emergencies.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Journeyman’s card, associate degree or technical diploma in Construction or Carpentry related field required. Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
Proven experience in construction, construction project management, and facility maintenance required.
Knowledge of construction software, budgeting tools, and building codes required.
Valid driver’s license required.
Must possess excellent problem resolution, organizational, interpersonal, communication, and project management skills.
