Mid-Pacific Institute is Hiring a High School Mathematics Teacher Near Honolulu, HI

Salary Range: $51,990 - $108,935 Annually based on degree and experience

JOB SUMMARY
As a member of the Mid-Pacific Institute Mathematics Department, the candidate is expected to utilize principles of deeper learning competencies. The ideal candidate for this position will implement innovative instructional design and will collaborate on all aspects of educational development and procedures. In addition to being an active participant in our vibrant learning community, we are looking for an educator who will inspire and support our students. The ideal candidate is dynamic, a strong communicator (both written and oral), and committed to professional growth in their discipline and teaching practice. The candidate should be able to teach all levels of Integrated Mathematics, which include Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Engaging Instructional Strategies:

  • Develop and implement creative and interactive lesson plans that complement traditional teaching methods.
  • Utilize various instructional strategies, such as hands-on activities, group discussions, and real-world applications, to engage students in the learning process.
Student-Centered Learning:
  • Foster a student-centered learning environment where students actively participate in constructing their own understanding of mathematical concepts.
  • Encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration among students.
Differentiated Instruction:
  • Recognize and address diverse learning styles and abilities within the classroom.
  • Implement differentiated instruction to meet the needs of individual students and promote an inclusive learning environment.
Curriculum Development:
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of the math curriculum.
  • Integrate innovative teaching resources, technology, and real-world examples to make mathematical concepts more tangible and culturally relevant for students.
Formative Assessment:
  • Implement formative assessment strategies to gauge student understanding in real-time.
  • Use assessment data to adjust teaching methods and provide targeted support to students who may be struggling.
Classroom Management:
  • Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom culture.
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies that promote a respectful and collaborative learning environment.
Professional Development:
  • Stay informed about current trends and best practices in mathematics education.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities to continuously enhance teaching skills and contribute to the overall success of the math department.
